How to get rid of brassy hair at home

Posted by The Towel Turban on

The first product I tried from Loreal is a color corrector for blondes. I applied it on towel dried hair for about 5 minutes and rinsed it off, it gets rid of unwanted brassy tones and nourishes blonde hair at the same time.

Then I tried a color correcting kit from Kerastase in the color purple which includes a hair mask and liquid correcting drops meant to be mixed together for smooth blonde hair without unwanted orange undertones.

Last but not least, this is probably the most effective trick I've tried. I bought blur black hair dye and mixed half a teaspoon of the developer from the kid with any shampoo or conditioner. I applied the mix on damp, washed hair and rinsed it after 5-7 minutes. It changed my hair from brassy to platinum grey, the same result I usually get after visiting my local salon for a touch up.

The blue black dye recipe:

  • 1 part hair color for 1 part developer
  • 3 parts hair conditioner/ shampoo
  • Ex: 1 tsp hair color + 1 tsp hair developer + 3 tsp of shampoo / conditioner

You can increase using same ratio depending on the length and thickness of your hair.

Maybe applied on dry or washed hair.
